Role Purpose:
The Global Head of Finance Transformation and Tokyo Transformation Lead is responsible for driving the strategic transformation agenda across Nomura's global Finance function.
The role is accountable for the Finance change portfolio, ensuring effective delivery of Finance sponsored investments, strengthening organisational capability, modernising Finance operating models, and driving measurable business outcomes. The successful candidate will partner closely with senior Finance leadership globally to translate strategic priorities into executable roadmaps and tangible results.
Working in partnership with the Head of Transformation Strategy, the role will help shape the future direction of the Finance function, ensuring transformation investments are aligned to long term business objectives, regulatory requirements, operational efficiency goals, and emerging technology opportunities.
In parallel, the role serves as the most senior International Change leader based in Tokyo, acting as a key representative of the Head of International Change and strengthening connectivity between Japan and International transformation agendas.
Role Overview:
This highly visible Executive Director level role leads the global Finance Transformation function within International Change.
The role operates at the intersection of strategy and execution, partnering with Finance Management, Technology, Corporate Functions, and the broader Chief Transformation Office to drive transformational change across the Finance organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the portfolio of Finance transformation investments, overseeing mission critical programmes, driving business case development and benefits realisation, and ensuring robust governance of Finance sponsored initiatives.
The role will work in close partnership with the Head of Transformation Strategy to align strategic priorities, develop transformation roadmaps, shape future operating models, and ensure Finance investments are targeted at the highest value opportunities.
As the senior International Change representative in Tokyo, the individual will play a critical leadership role in strengthening alignment between Japan and International transformation priorities. The role requires extensive engagement with senior executives across Finance, Corporate Functions, Technology, and the CTO organization to drive collaboration, accelerate decision making, and support the firm's broader transformation objectives.
The successful candidate will lead a global team of programme and project managers and will be expected to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, risk excellence, and delivery discipline.
Responsibilities:
In addition to leading the global Finance Transformation function, the role serves as a key Tokyo based leadership position within International Change with responsibility for:
・Acting as the senior representative of the Head of International Change in Japan
・Building and maintaining trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Corporate Functions, and Executive Management
・Strengthening alignment between Japan and International transformation priorities
・Supporting other International Change function heads in managing Tokyo based resources and delivery teams
・Serving as the primary engagement point for the CTO Head Office organisation
・Coordinating activity across domestic and international transformation initiatives
・Helping resolve cross regional delivery challenges and stakeholder issues
・Promoting best practice, consistent governance standards, and strong collaboration across regions
・Supporting talent development and leadership capability across the Tokyo based International Change population
・Acting as an ambassador for International Change across the Japan franchise
Key Objectives Critical to Success:
■Finance Transformation Leadership
・Lead the delivery of mission critical and other Finance transformation initiatives globally, as well as Finance components of Business / Firm wide initiatives
・Define and execute a multi year Finance transformation roadmap aligned to business strategy
・Translate strategic objectives into executable programmes and measurable business outcomes
・Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership on transformation priorities, organisational effectiveness, operating model evolution, and strategic investment decisions
・Drive efficiency, productivity, and simplification across the Finance organisation
・Influence the long term direction of the Finance function by combining Finance domain expertise with transformation leadership
■Portfolio Management and Governance
・Manage and optimise the global Finance change portfolio of investments and initiatives
・Chair the Finance Investment Spend Committee and ensure effective investment governance
・Drive business case development, investment prioritisation, and benefits realisation
・Ensure Finance transformation investments deliver measurable business, operational, financial, and regulatory outcomes
・Define and maintain KPIs and OKRs that measure delivery performance and value creation
・Support relevant Investment Governance forums and standards
■Strategy and Transformation Partnership
・Partner closely with the Head of Transformation Strategy to translate Finance strategic priorities into a coherent transformation roadmap
・Support Finance leadership in defining future operating models, organisational capabilities, and strategic investment priorities
・Challenge and influence strategic thinking regarding transformation priorities and emerging opportunities
・Identify opportunities to modernise processes, simplify operating models, and improve organisational effectiveness
・Ensure strong alignment between Finance initiatives, business strategy, and regulatory requirements
■Technology, Data and AI
・Champion the adoption of AI, automation, data, and advanced analytics capabilities across Finance
・Leverage technology to improve productivity, efficiency, insight generation, and decision making
・Promote data driven management approaches and performance measurement
・Support modernisation of Finance processes, systems, and operating models
・Drive innovation while maintaining appropriate governance and controls
■Stakeholder and People Leadership
・Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Finance leadership globally
・Partner effectively with Technology, Risk, Operations, and Business leadership
・Lead and develop a high performing global Finance Transformation organisation
・Build leadership capability, succession pipelines, and talent development plans

・Serve as the senior International Change leader in Tokyo

Requirements:

・Extensive experience within the Finance function of a major financial services institution
・Strong understanding of Finance operating models, management processes, and organisational structures
